Alice and the Caterpillar


Well, here's a try at an illustration with a more detailed background than I usually do. I'm not sure how I think it turned out.

Yay! More posts from Kent! This one is so full of story. I love how the caterpillar is off in the distance. How long did it take you to paint?

I ended up working on it for two or three days. I was really stressing out on how to do the grass. I sort of like it and wanted to use it to send to children's book publishers, but I can't get good copies of it. The yellow grass behind Alice totally washes out...

That's frustrating. I find it hard to print my colour stuff up too... I wonder if Stephen might have some suggestions, he did print checking for a while and knows a lot about getting colours to look pretty.

well i dont know what your other work looks like ,but i really dig ths painting? i really did the composition and the overall feel of it. what media did you use?

Thanks Mauricio! My color stuff is done with acrylics. I'm still learning my technique. I always considered myself a draftsman, not a painter, but I'm really enjoying doing these pieces.
